The Zing Zang Tai Chi club in Banbury has been running successfully since March 2022. Members have asked for some guidance, training material and instructional videos to assist with practice and progressing their journey.
Remember, there is no rush, relax and enjoy.
The form we practice is the Yang style of Tai Chi by Professor Cheng Man Ching. The form consists of 37 movements.
We also practice loosening, breathing and Qi Gong exercises for health and to practice the theory and movement of Tai Chi.
The classes are not currently running, but you can practice using these five 10 minute practice videos
Your First Lesson
After your first lesson you would have covered some of the content of this first video below
Videos
Below is the first video we use as a guide containing the full form. It is performed by Lee Chan
There are several variations of this form but this version is easier to follow and learn. It is very useful to refresh your memory and you can pause the video or reduce the playback speed to see more detail.
Below is another video. This form is performed by Cheng Man Ching himself. The video quality is not so good so it’s harder to follow but if you know the form you can see it is the same. It’s good to watch and see how Cheng Man Ching himself performs the form.
Further to the above Lee Chan video there is another below that provides two views, one view is a mirror image and the other a view from the back. It also mentions in the text the name of each move. The form is the same but it provides alternative views to assist practice.
