I have just finished reading this great guide to Master Cheng Man Ching’s Tai Chi. The title is a bit of a mouth full but he has published several books on Tai Chi so you need to know you are purchasing the correct one. The book was written by Chang Man Ching himself. It has been translated into English by Mark Hennessy.

The book was originally written in the 1960’s and then translated by Hennessy and published in 1999.
Cheng Man Ching was a Tai Chi master that was renowned for being a lead in bringing it to the western world. He simplified Yang Style Tai Chi into a shorter version of 37 moves and formed his own style of movement.
The book…
This book contains his theory on self-cultivation in the first chapters then moves onto the short form of 37 movements. There are 180 photos and 160 foot diagrams along with detailed text on how to perform each move.

The book is a useful study guide for anyone practicing Tai Chi, particularly Yang style. If you are a student of the Cheng Man Ching style and have an instructor then this book is a valuable training aid to learn and confirm each move is being performed correctly.
I have followed a similar lineage to Cheng Man Ching so I found this book to be a great training aid. Here is a link to my article
