I had been fascinated for years about the vital energy known as Chi, Qi or Ki that is evident in many far eastern martial arts and health beliefs. Translated as vital energy or life force energy. Much could be discussed about this but I want to focus on myself deciding to pursue a Reiki path.
After some research I found an organisation known as The Reiki Association. Reiki is a system of natural healing that originated in Japan. Here is an except from the Reiki Associations website which best describes Reiki:
The Usui System of Natural Healing, is a Japanese Healing Art. This form was founded in Japan and the basis of the practice is referred to as self healing/self treatment. A little over 100 years ago a Japanese man, Mikao Usui, began a personal search that ended with his having contact with the energy Reiki. His practice grew and eventually Reiki was introduced out of Japan via Hawaii in 1937 by Hawayo Takata Sensei. It is passed on from one person to another through a specific initiation, teachings and a defined form of practice.
The Japanese word ‘reiki’ can be translated as ‘universal life energy’ and the Usui System is a way of working with reiki for healing of self and others. The word healing is used in the sense of regaining harmony and wholeness. Usui Shiki Ryoho addresses the whole person on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels and those that we cannot identify at the present.

The Reiki Course
In 2002 I decided to attend a Reiki course in Bristol. The instructor is a Reiki Master, Christine Lunt. The below image is a link to her website.
I progressed to Reiki Level 2 which enabled me to provide treatment not only to myself but also to others.
Does Reiki work ?
Reiki has been proven in studies to have a positive effect on health as a complimentary therapy. The following article below is an interesting study into the effectiveness of Reiki.
Below is an except of the conclusion of the study:
Reiki is better than placebo in activating the parasympathetic nervous system, as measured by reduced heart rate, reduced blood pressure, and increased heart rate variability. For patients with chronic health conditions, Reiki has been found to be more effective than placebo for reducing pain, anxiety, and depression, and for improving self-esteem and quality of life. According to the neurovisceral integration model and the polyvagal theory, these effects are due to higher parasympathetic nervous system activity, mediated via the vagus nerve.

Just commenting to show my agreement. Your opinion is well written Nice job!
I’m completely stunned by the results I’ve experienced while practising Reiki regularly. It had helped me maintain proper physical and mental health and helped me to cure physical pain in my body.
