What Are The Most Common Injuries In MMA?
Within MAA you might have seen people bleed from their head, nose, and eyes. This is common because these areas are usually exposed. However swollen ears and swollen noses are also common because the tissues are soft and they end up locking down moisture along with dead white blood cells. For the beginner who needs to know about various MMA injuries and their fatal side, we have listed some important details
Ear Injury
Ear injuries are very common however it depends on the type of injury. Usually, the outer soft bone gets ruptured and as a result, a cushion-like structure develops between the skin and bone making it look like a balloon. However, if the rupture happens in the eardrum, the fighter is unable to listen properly. However, both these injuries are not fatal at all.

Nose Injury and Eye Injury
Both nose and eye injuries are easy to heal because they usually happen in soft tissues of the body. Most people get ruptured bone which deforms their nose septum however this can cause some discomfort in breathing but nothing serious. It usually heals within a few weeks but if there is a septum injury, you might need some surgery.
Head Injury and neck injury
So far upper-body injuries are the most dangerous and they can cause serious damage and can become fatal as well. Most people end up hitting their head which can result in bleed. However usually when you have a scar in your head and you see bleeding, it is more painful but less dangerous. However, if the blood clot forms inside the head it can cause a stroke if it travels to the brain or heart. Similarly, minor concussion is very common but sometimes concussion can become very dangerous causing inner clot building which can cause brain tissue death as well.

Another very dangerous injury is linked with the neck region. Usually, when grapplers try chokes they yank the upper head region as they apply extreme pressure. This can block the air pipe which can cause extreme pain. Sometimes this air pipe gets fractured which if not treated can be fatal as well. This is the reason it is much better to understand the technique of choke and its effect before you apply the pressure on your neck or yank it.
Foot Injury
Foot injury is also very common and this can be extremely painful however it is never fatal. Usually, when you start with foot locks, some people when bent the foot away from the knee end up yanking the tendon. As a result, the feet lose the support from the shin and this can become very painful. Foot injury is usually ranked as the most painful among most of the injuries.

Bottom Line
To sum it all up, it is very important to understand that injuries are very common in MMA. However, as a trainee, you need to know what to do after you get injured or how to respond to a severe injury. Most people underestimate their injury and do not respond. As a result, the injury gets worse and they eventually end up with a permanent disability. Usually when you get injured during a fight, adrenalin rush conceals the pain making it very hard to understand what’s happening in your system as a result most people either do not understand the intensity of the pain or usually understand the intensity very late when adrenalin rush wears off. It is very important to stay calm so you can strategize and plan things between when you are in a game, this will also help you to respond to pain right away rather than haphazardly recognizing extreme pain.
