After over six months of advanced Tai Chi training with the Rubery Tai Chi Class I was very keen to attend the The Kai Ming Taiji Association advanced monthly Sunday morning session.
The Sunday morning sessions are run for advanced students and instructors and the event is hosted by Mark Peters.

Mark Peters is the head of the association and Chairman of the Tai Chi and Qigong Union for Great Britain

The first session I attended was the first one organised in over two years because of the Covid 19 pandemic. I was keen to progress with more sword practice, pushing hands and any other new knowledge I could pick up. As a new instructor I was welcomed by Mark and other participants with open arms. It was good to see Nige Ryan, Carl and Bob from the Rubery class who had instructed me over the previous six months.
The associations Tai Chi is based on the Cheng Man Ching‘s style.

March the 6th 2022 was sunny and cold. I arrived at the venue at Weoley Hill Village Hall, in Bournville, Birmingham. All the doors were wide open to get the cold air flowing around the hall. We were taught some finer details of body movement both with and without the straight jian sword (not real ones). This was followed by some pushing hands drills. Some students were graded by performing sword and fan forms.
Mark is probably one of the most well known instructors in the UK particularly relating to the Cheng Man Ching style.
The second session I attended was on Sunday 8th May. Much warmer and a lovely spring morning so we moved outside on the grass. Another interest session with lots of form practice, pushing hands and body movement tips from Mark.
